The 2010 Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance is Scheduled for June 18-20, 2010 with the Wooden Boat Week running from June 17-23. The Marque Class for 2010 will be "Classic Glass (1955-1964)".In 1955, Chris-Craft, among others, made a bold move to revamp its successful racers of the '40s with after decks, 'vertical' tails and swooping rear fins constructed of fiberglass - the company's first use of this new material. Cobras and Silver Arrows led to way to the wide acceptance of fiberglass as a boat building material. Correct Craft was another builder who turned from plywood and mahogany to fiberglass. Becoming widely associated with the growing sport of water skiing. Correct Craft turned entirely to fiberglass construction after introducing its first model in 1962. Century, Arenacraft, AristoCraft and a bevy of small boat building companies were also experimenting with fiberglass, providing models very similar to fast-moving auto industry efforts of the day.
